GAS EXPLOSION.

SEQUEL TO SYDNEY FIRE.

SYDNEY, March 25

The explosion of a gas cylinder in the course of a lire at the Momalong Hotel, Berrigan, a town 435 miles south of Sydney, resulted in a police sergeant being killed and five people being injured. Hundreds of bystanders scattered in terror when the cylinder exploded. The 2000 residents of the town turned out when the fire alarm rang and there were many willing helpers. However, the hotel was burned to the ground. There were scores of narrow escapes. The police sergeant's dog was killed beside him.
