PIRATE DRAMA.
Britishers Round Up and Take Twelve Chinese. RADIO CALL TO DESTROYER. HONGKONG, January 5. Two British merchant ships played a part in a pirate drama on Sunday north of-Bias Bay, the pirate stronghold. tirate junks were attacking other junks, when the steamers Hang Cheong and Soochow joined forces, and manoeuvred in rounding up the pirates. Meanwhile the ships sent wireless calls for assistance. . '' The British destroyer Somrae arrived, and the captain arrested 12 pirates, who are now en route to Hongkong. Captain Kelman, of the Hang Sang, states that he heard firing and calls to save life when near the junks. Thereupon he gave chase, threatening to ram the junks, which frantically endeavoured to escape. The Hang Cheong assisted the other steamers by encircling the prey until the arrival of the warship. No casualties were suffered on the British ships.
