A cold southerly wind before breakfast made matters anything bufpleaeant for training work at Ellerslie thie morning, while after the interval there was a slight fall of rain. The course proper with the trestles out 60ft from the rails' was open for fast work, as> was; also No. 3 grass track. The course proper was very heavy, but the going on No. 3 grass track was somewhat better., The Course Proper. Eager Rose ran seven furlongs iu ; 1i42, the last six -taking 1.28 1-5. ,', Lusoma easily beat Kawainga and Stimulant over five furlongs in .1.12 2-5. Sir Mond pleased better than Red Lion at the end of six furlongs in 1.29 2-5. New Boy,, alone, ran seven furlongs in 1.42 2-5, the last six. taking 1.29 2-5, while Cynthia N. cbyered five furlongs in 1.14. , " ...,';' Gold Money ran six furlongs, in 136, but was not doing her best at any part of it : ••'-;-.-, After Breakfast.
Catoma and Sub-Editor ran seven furlongs in 1.41 4-5. The former appeared t° be going the better of the pair at,the .* finish. Brampton and Imperial Prince got "to the end of half a mile in 57 4-ss, iaaridre and Currajong taking 565.,. Good Idea and Teller lira half a mile in 58 3-ss; finishing together. . Swiftsure and Tambourine were timed to run four furlongs in 1.2. Fi'othblower and Karangapai got to the end of half a mile in 575, finishing ;; together.
