Brady's stable, over half a.mile in 53£s. : King Ford, who had the better of the start, showed the way to Rita's Lass over six furlongs in 1.24.' ■ ■- e Beau Irish led Pompeius throughout a six furlong sprint in 1.24. Mervette and Stonehenge were on th« move when they reached the six furlongs post. Stonehenge was in front at the finish, the time being 1.21 4-5. Both were ridden by light boys. Arch Eagle and Cruachan were on terms over six furlongs in 1.22 4-5. Imamint, who looks improved by her racing at Marton and Wanganui, hit out freely over the concluding stages of her gallop. . She is in good order for Saturday. ' . Pendennis jumped two fences in good style. He will be in the picture for.,a time at least on Saturday. N. Syme will ride him.
Tradesman galloped six furlongs yesterday, recording 1.22 3-5. The'Raceful gelding left for Avondale tq-day. Daylight, who is in. good heart, went well when jumping a couple of hurdles yesterday in company with Ruby Dawn, the pace being right on. , Star Comet and Royal Visitor, the latter.of whom is engaged at Avondale oji Saturday, cleared four hurdles yesterday. Star Comet was too good for his stable mate, but Royal Visitor went well for a novice. ; , ■
Paddon, who is trained privately, is reported to bo in good order for his Cup engagement. H. Goldfinch will ride the Archiestown gelding, who had not done the maximum of work prior to the Marton meeting. R. Syme's and A. Tinker's horses for Avondale will be railed North to-morrow. Paganelli, Peau T rish, Royal Visitor and the Illumination—Lady Kairua filly will travel by float to-morrow.
