ARAPUNI SITUATION.
GEOLOGIST'S REPORT.
INVESTIGATION RENEWED.
POLICY ANNOUNCEMENT SOON. (By Telegraph.—Special to " Star.") WELLINGTON, this day. The Minister of Public Works, the Hon. W. B. Taverner, said this afternoon, that the preliminary geological survey at Arapuni made by Dr. Henderson, the Government Geologist, immediately after the occurrence of the trouble, lias been received, and a further geological' investigation is at once being undertaken. Dr. Marsden, permanent head of the Department of Scientific Research, is leaving for Arapuni, where he will be joined by Dr. Henderson, and by Professor Bartrum of the Auckland University College, with the object of undertaking a further investigation and amplifying the prelnmnaiy survey of the site and surrounding In order to facilitate this, the exploratory tunnel which was put in hand fo the preliminary survey, is being . cavl ie \ a further step. The Minister said that a further statement would be made when the geological reports had beexi received by the Government. "In the meantime," continued MiTaverner", "these several important masters involved in the Arapuni situation arc receiving attention, and an announcement regarding the future policy will be made at the earliest possible stage.
