RETURNS STILL UP.
WAITEMATA POWER BOARD.
AFFECT OF ARAPUNI.
PROGRESS DURING MAY.
. The trouble at Arapuni has not, so far, been reflected in the financial returns of the Waitemata Electric Power Board. The secretary-treasurer (Mr. A. Main) reported to to-day's meeting of the board (presided over by Mr. G. Trevithick), that during May gross sales amounted to £6070, as compared with £5178 for the corresponding month of last year an increase of £897. The figures for April were £5223 and £4304 respectively, the increase represented in the sales being £919. Progress with extensions during May was reported on by the engineer (Mr. F. J. H. Wilson). It was decided to donate £5 5/ to the Workers' Educational Association, and £2 2/ to the funds of the Auckland Harbour Bridge Association, which, in [appealing for support, commented on the recent- commission's statement that 110 obstacle should be placed in the way of the trans-harbour structure being built by private enterprise. While Messrs. A. E. Greenslade and S. E. Kennings argued that the board should support the harbour bridge as a business proposition, Rev. W. P. Rankin opposed the motion with a vigorous "No." "We want the Morningside tunnel out at New Lynn," he added jocularly.
