LEGALISING THE 'TOTE'
Victorian Bill Expected To JJecome Law. MACHINES FOR FIVE COURSES. MELBOURNE, Mayl. Victorian Government's Totalisator Bill is expected to become law at the end of this month. To-day in the Legislative Council the second reading was passed. If the anticipated happens machines will bo installed on five courses, namely, Flemington, Caulfield, WilliamStown, Moonee Valley, and Ascot. The Premier, Mr. E. -J. Hogan,, expects the totalisator will be yielding revenue at the end of the year. It is many years since the first attempt was made in the Victorian Parliament to legalise the totalisator.
