AREA CLOSE TO WHAKGAEEI. REQUEST FOR RESERVATIONS. (By Telegraph.—Special to " Star.") RUSSELL, this day. Residents and settlers in the Bay of Islands county expressed their desire to the Minister of Lands last evening that a beautiful area of native bush at Whangarei on the new road to Russell should be preserved. This bush' is situated within a few miles of the town. Mr. Forbes assured the deputation that he had been in communication with the Minister of Native Affairs, the Hon. Sir Apirana Ngata, with a view to a particular area of native land being exchanged for Crown lands when the scheme for the consolidation of land im this district was accomplished. In the meantime, said the Minister,, the people could rest assured that pending that consolidation the bush woultli not be disturbed.
