Importance To Imperial Unity. DIPLOMATIC FACILITY. (Received 11 a.m.) LONDON, May 1. The Australia-London telephone test is being given prominence by the newspapers. The "Times," in an editorial, states that it is now possible to converse overseas by telephone, to ask a, question, make a suggestion, and get an immediate reply. It will give statesmen a fuller opportunity of establishing and maintaining intimate and personal contact, which constitutional developments of the past decade have made necessary if the Empire is to endure, and the development of methods of rapid, easy consultation is a political necessity these days, when all questions of Imperial policy have to be settled by consultation- between different Governments.
ALREADY POPULAR. \ k _ LONDON-SYDNEY 'PHONE. . SYDNEY, May 1. The wireless telephone service between Australia and London is already popular. There were 24 calls at '£6* each last evening, and the maximum number is booked for this evening.. Applications for calls at the London end are equally satisfactory.
