FRAUD ALLEGED.
ARREST OF SEAMAN. REMANDED IN CUSTODY. Arrested yesterday by Detective Packman, Donald Alexander, aged 24, a seaman, was brought before the Police Court to-day on a charge of attempting to obtain from the Farmer's Union Trading Company, yesterday, a pair of shoes and £10 in cash by means of a valueless cheque for £17 drawn on the Bank of Australasia. ■' Alexander, who pleaded not guilty, elected to be dealt with in the lower court. - Chief Detective Hammond obtained a remand until March 24.. Accused said he did not want bail.
