OFFENCES BY iLABOURER. REMANDED FOR 'INQUIRIES. Charges of • drunkenness in Albert Street yesterday, using obscene language and stealing a coat, jacket and chequebook of a total value of £5, the property of Peter Smith, were preferred against a labourer, William Kirk (50) at the Police Court to-day.

He pleaded guilty to all charges. In obtaining a remand until March 24 so that further inquiries might be made about Kirk, Chief Detective Hammond said that accused had been drinking Aeavily.
