MRS. S. GALLAGHER.

The death occurred "on Sunday last, at the residence of. her daughter, 36, Wanganui Avenue, Heme Bay, of Mrs. S. Gallagher, who was born 81 years ago in that part of Auckland -which is now known as Courthouse Lane. She lived all her life in Auckland, and saw it grow from a small village to a flourishing city. Her father saw service with the 58th Regiment, known as the " Old Black Cuffs," who arrived at Auckland prior to 1844. He later secured his discharge, and sent to the Old Country for his wife and family. Mrs. Gallagher's only brother was the late Mr. John Scullen, who was well known in the Arch Hill district some years ago. She was twice married, and is survived by 11 children, 53 grandchildren, and 49 great grandchildren.
