MR. OLIVER WASLEY.

The death has occurred at Oratia, at the age of 82 years, of Mr. Edward Oliver . Wasley, who was resident in : Auckland for 70 years. In 1857 he went as a boy with his parents to the Ballarat gold diggings,- bat eoon afterwards came to Nfew Zealand. He saw service in the Maori wars, joining the First Waikato Regiment at the age of 18. When fighting . under Major Von Tempsky, of the Forest Rangers, against Te Kooti, he was severely wounded. Later he took up farming in the Waita-kere-Xihotupu watershed, known ■as Wasley Bush. Mr. Wasley then married and settled at Oratia. His wife survives him. i
