YOUTH REMANDED.

CHARGE OF STEALING CHEQUE,

"He altered a 6 on a cheque to 60, and then cashed it," said Chief Detective Hammond, in telling Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., about a lad of 18 who was charged with stealing a cheque for £6 from Harold Olsen, of East Tamaki, on December 7, and further with a breach of his probation order. When David Barry, alias Jack Barry, alias Jack David Berridge, a driver, appeared on the charges, Mr. J. J. Sullivan asked that the youth be remanded until after the holidays. This was granted, and the case will be heard on January 9.
