OTAGO'S FINE YACHT.

| LAUNCHING NEXT SATURDAY. DETAILS OF CONSTRUCTION. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) DUNEDIN, this day. • Next Saturday will see launched the largest yacht in Otago Harbour. It has been built at Port Chalmers for Mr. H. M. Nees. The overall length is 33ft, on the waterline 24ft, beam 7ft Gin, draught 4ft, displacement three and a half tons. The cast lead keel of 1 ton 7 cwt is held in position by means of ten one and a quarter inch bronze bolts, carried well up into the substantial cross timbers. Thence specially bent frames distribute the strain evenly throughout the hull. The planking is of specially selected kauri in one length. A fine clear deck forward gives ample space for handling the racing sails. The boat will carry Marconi rig of the latest type, embodying the high and narrow sail plan now favoured in older countries. The mast is of Oregon 40ft long by sAin diameter, built hollow on a method devised by Mr. Nees and since adopted by a prominent Auckland builder with excellent results. Mast rings are dispensed with, the luff and rnainsail being fitted with roller recfiing gear, and later on Wykha'm Martin roller reeling jib gear will be tried out.
