WOMEN'S INSTITUTES.
HALF-YEARLY CONGRESS. ADVISORY COMMITTEE RROPOSED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) PAHIATUA, this da v. The half-yearly council meeting of the Women's Institute, Wellington Provincial Federation, was held here yesterdav. Over 130 delegates and' other institute members were welcomed by the Mayor, Mi. iT. I). Wilson and Mrs. H. Paterson, president of the local institute. The federation president, Mrs. Waring Taylor, reviewed the work of the past half year and delegates also gave reports. The principal resolutions passed were: That the federation asks the National Council of Women to consider the advisability of urging Parliament to recognise and make use of a women's advisory committee for consultation on matters pertaining to women, the formation of such a committee to be in the hands of the National Council. lhat the institutes each choose a particular perennial flower and every member plant it in order that her centre inav be specially notable for that bloom. The federation secretary. Miss Crawford, gave a shield for a potato-growing competition among all institutes. Mrs. McCorkingdale (Feildinjr) gave a demonstration of pottery. Miss Spencer, chief organiser of the movement, briefly addressed the gathering on the need of co-operation.
