ROTORUA NOTES.

The Rev. J. Lea and Mrs. Lea/; Whaka Road, are visiting Napier to attend 'the sitting of Synbd> Mactler, Haupapa Sti - returned:'-from a visit to W'hahgarei. The Rev. -J. W. Burley and Mrs. Bnrley, of Taumarunui, are staying in Rotorua. Mrs. F. H. Spencer, Ranolf- Street,.; has returned from a -visit to the Thames. Miss Leah Harris is spending a holiday. in Auckland. - Mrs. Morton, Epsom, is spending a holiday at Waiwera. House, while in Rotorua. Mrs. R. Griffith has returned to Hotel Arawa froni a visit to Waipukurau. Miss Bicknell, of Auckland, has.been on a visit to Rotorua. Miss Meeghan, King George V. Hospital, has returned from a visit to Wanganui, Taumarunui and Tongariro National Park.

Adams (of Belfast, Ireland), Mr. Woods, Miss Woods (Christchurch), Mr. and Mrs. Parkinson, Mr. and Mrs. H. G. Didsbury, Mr. and Mrs. A. Stockdale (Wellington), Mr. and Mrs. Eyes (of Tasmania). The Eotorua Rugby Union held their annual dance and presentation of trophies in Dixieland Cabaret, on Wednesday evening. The ladies' committee were: Mrs. Walker, Mrs. Brothers, Mrs. Martin, Mrs. Pomeroy, Mrs. Woolliams and Miss R. Owens. Shalfoon's Melody Boys' Orchestra provided the music. A waltzing competition was Avon by Mr. and Mrs. Mercer, and the Monte Carlo dance by "Miss I. Manson and Mr. C. Graeff. A progressive "500" tuornament was held in the gallery, when the prizes were. Avon .by. Mrs. Mercer Ist, Mrs. Thompson 2nd, Mr. Mercer Ist, Mr. W. Walker 2nd. Mr. R. G. Webb, president of the.union, presented the trophies won during the season to the following clubs: Kahukura, the Chronicle Shield; Convent School, Nathan and Handcock Cup; High School (third grade), the Fuller Gup; Waikite, Heihana Memorial Cup; Kahukura Seniors, Geyserland Shield; Ngongotaha, Gardiner Cup; City Juniors, the Ingram Cup.

A successful concert, given by,the Rotorua Girl Guides and Brownies, Whaka Brownies and Girls' League, was held in the Peerless Hall on Friday evening, when a large and enthusiastic audience was present. The whole of the programme reflects great credit to .'Mrs. N. M. Keane, president of the Guide Committee, and Mrs. T. Guthrie-Blakely, who trained the Guides and Brownies and- produced the plays. The overture and items were played by the Boys' Drum and Fife Band, and the Guide law and camp fire ceremonies were demoncrated. Action songs were ;sung by the Brownies, ' fancy dances were contributed by Miss Inys Wallis, recitations by Miss Olga Louden, and violin solos by.Miss Grace CameronJohnson. The historical drama, "Robin Hood,'' and a humorous sketch,-""A House to Let," were well acted. The Rotorua Girls'-League, under the'direction of. Mrs. Guthrie-Blakely, gave the sketch, "Mary's Dismissal," the parts being taken by Miss Peggy Wallace,. Miss Violet Steele, Miss Ethel Rushton* Miss Joan Hodgson, Miss Gwen Dillon, Miss Elsie Winslade. Dr. S. Wallis thanked all for their attendance. Amonf those present were: Dr. and Mrs. L. A.
