LOCAL BODIES.
MOUNT ROSKILL ROAD BOARD. The Mount Roskill Road Board met last night. All the members were in attendance, the chairman, Mr. E. F. Jones, | presiding. Street Lamps.—The Auckland Transport Board requested that the street lights "on tram and bus routes be kept burning until--1 a.m. The clerk reported that there were mechanical difficulties in the way of having a different hour for special streets. Health Inspector.—At the request of the Department of Health Mr. John Wark was appointed as sanitary inspector in place of Mr. N. F. Furness. It was decided to send a letter of thanks to Mr. Furness for his care in looking after the: district. I Main Highways Grant.—The Auckland Automobile Association asked the board to send a representative to a meeting of, protest against the Governmcn's intention to. withhold the annual grant from the Main Highways Board's funds. Mr. R. Sanft reported on the position, and he was appointed to attend the meeting. Slot Telephone—The district telegraph engineer notified that a coin-in-the-slot telephone would shortly be installed near the corner of Dominion and Mount Albert Roads. Urban Farm Lands Rating.—Mr. W. J. Jordan forwarded a letter from the Minister of Internal Affairs on the question of including road board districts in the provisions of the Urban Farm Lands Rating Bill. It was decided to ask Mr. Jordan to continue his interest in the matter, and also Mr. G. C. Munns, M.P., for Roskill. Transport.—The chairman remarked on the report in the " Star " regarding the discussion of the Transport Board on the question of charging a flat rate on all the tram routes. He believed the board was now much more inclined to give a trial to the uniform fare of threepence, and the One Tree Hill Road Board was urging it also. He thought all the local bodies within the transport area' should be consulted, and moved that the Mayor of Mount Eden be asked to call a meeting. The motion was carried, Mr. Tansley alone dissenting. ' District Boundaries—The Department ot Internal Affairs advised that careful consideration was being given to the boards objection to the proposed alteration to the boundaries of the district, by the exclusion of a certain area. Building Permits.—Eight building permits have been issued during the past ■fortnight, including four dwellings.
