WOMEN'S FASHIONS.
New Styles Revert To Old Types. ANKLE-LENGTH SKIRTS. (Australian and N.Z. Press Association.) LONDON, September 3. Feminine buyers arc frankly alarmed at the new season's fashions shown at Olvmpia to-day. These seem suddenly to have reverted to the type of a quarter of a century ago. For instance, there are tucked-in blouses and trailing skirts, "bits and pieces" and the old-time waist-line. Some evening frocks had upwards of 1000 yds of tulle, arc composed entirely of minute frills, and arc of anklelength. Obviously these fashions arc good for trade, but whether the modern woman will consent to turn herself into an oldfashioned ballet girl in order to create industrial prosperity is questionable. One writer cynically predicts that next year we may expect a revival of the straw "boater" and the high starched linen collar.
