WATERSIDER INJURED

Engaged in overhauling the steamer Kaitoke, which is lying at tlie Northern wharf, Mr. F. Smith, aged 23, of 15, Seafield View Koad, Grafton, fell down the hold and injured his spine. He was standing on some scaffolding erected on the inner wall of the hold when it is supposed he slipped. He fell across a pile of coal at the bottom of the hold. Mr. Smith was taken to the hospital by the St. John Ambulance, and his condition is not considered serious. George Swinburn, a labourer, agqd 02, employed by- the Public Works Department on the Kaglan deviation, was injured through a bank subsiding on to him yesterday morning. He was admitted to the Waikatp Hospital suffering from injuries to one knee and shoulder.
