PLUG OF EXPLOSIVE.

FOUND IN GASWORKS.

IN LOAD OF COAL.

DISASTER AVERTED.

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)

CHRISTCHURCH, this day.

The timely discovery by an employee of the Sumner gasworKs of a plug of explosive in a load of coal probably prevented a disaster. When found, the plug was still in the paper wrapping supplied at the factory, and though it is five inches long it was not noticed at the coal yards.
