TALLOW, HEMP, WOOL, ETC. HIGH COMMISSIONER'S CABLE. The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated June 15, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London: — Tallow.—The spot market continues very quiet, but there is more inquiry for shipments. There is only a small demand at auction. Prices arc lower. Present quotations for spot, per cwt., are;— Mutton: Fine, 41/6; fair to good, 38/ to 40/; dark to dull, 35/6 to 36/. Beef: Sweet, and/or mixed, 39/ to 43/; fair to good, 37/ to 30/; dark to dull, 35/ to 36/. Mixed: Failto good, 36/G to 38/G; dark to dull, 35/ to 35/6; gut, etc., 34/ to 35/6. Hemp.—Manila: The market is quiet. Values at the close were unchanged. Stocks in England on May 31 were 8500 bales, as against 21,580 bales at the same time last year. Sisal: Market quiet, with very little business doing. Nominal closing values for June-August shipments.l Tanganyika No. 1 quoted at £38 buyers, £38 10/ sellers. Mexican: Still nothing offering here and nominal value unchanged. New Zealand: Nothing to report. Market dull. Nominal comparative values are:— Highpoints, £33 10/; fair, £31; common, £29 10/; rejected, £27 15/. Tow: Second grade, £21; third grade, £17 10/. Wool. —Bradford market quiet. Merino and fine crossbred tops more or less neglected, but moderate business has been done in medium and coarse crossbred. Present quotations for tops are:— 64's warp, 3/5 per lb; average, 3/4; 56's, 2/QV?.; 50's prepared, 2/2 to 2/3; 40's prepared, 1/10. Fruit. —Stocks of New Zealand fairly well cleared, but Jonathan, particularly large size, very troublesome owing to rapid deterioration. The Southampton portion of the Rangitiki shipment is arriving on the market this morning. So far Stunner, Statesman and Dougherty are in sound j condition and should meet a good demand. ' Probable opening prices arc from 15/ to 17/6. Delicious and Rome Beauty are fully ripened and show waste. There are no pears here yet. BRADFORD STILL SLOW. BUT CROSSBREDS BETTER. Low crossbreds are very firm, with slightly more inquiry. SYDNEY V/OOL SALES. SYDNEY, June 17. The Sydney wool sales were resumed to-day. The market was on a par with May closing rate for good quality fleece wools, but was irregular for medium mixed sorts. Greasy Merino sold to 20M>d. APPLES. (Australian and N.Z. Press Association.)
