HALL AND SHOPS DESTROYED,
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.)
COROMANDEL, Wednesday. The Foresters' Hall and a large twostoreyed building in the centre of Coromandel township were destroyed by lire early this morning. The building had two shops on the ground floor, one occupied by the owner, Mr. Thomas Pepper, who conducted a fruit and confectionery business, and the other occupied by Mr. J. Meldrum, shoemaker. The fire originated apparently in the hall, which had not been used for several days. The hall was insured by the owner, Mr. C. J. Eraser, in the National Office for £600. Mr. Pepper's property was insured for £100 in the Alliance Office and £300 in the South British Office. Both owners are heavy losere.
