OBITUARY.
MRS. MARY CASEY. SIXTY-EIGHT YEARS COLONIST. The death took place yesterday at Hamilton, of Mrs. Mary Casey, aged 09 years. She was born at Tralee, Ireland, and arrived in New Zealand with her parents when one year old. Tin family first settled at Blenheim, where leeeased was married 38 years ago, and with her husband went on a farm at Tamahore. About 30 years ago the family move.l to Overview, where Mrs. Casey has lived ever since Mr. Casey died, 13 years ago. There are six sons and four daughters. MAORI CHIEF!AINESS, WAANA MATENE. A respected chieftainess of the Ngatimaru tribe, Waana Matene, died at the native settlement of Kirikiri, Thames. She was known to many friends at Te Moengahau. Deceased was a daughter of Matene Te Nga, a noted warrior chief of the Ngatimaru tribe, and one of tli-> survivors when the Ngapuhi chief, Hone Heke, captured the Totara Pa and massacred the defenders, who did not make their escape.
