CALL FOR AID.

ACCIDENT AT LIGHTHOUSE. STEAMER PROCURES PATIENT. MAX'S NOSE FRACTURED. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WELLINGTON", this day. When the Union Company's collier Kaimai was passing the Brothers lighthouse last evening, on her way to Greymouth from Napier, she received a message by means of signal flags stating that an accident had occurred, and that the services of a doctor were required.

A wireless message was then dispatched from the Kaimai to Wellington,

Shortly before 9 o'clock the Government steamer Tutanekai left with Dr. E. Luke on board for the lighthouse. Some difficulty as experienced in securing a crew for the vessel, as she had only returned from a cruise round the southern lighthouses in the morning, and most of her complement had gone ashore. A call was sent out from Station 2YA, and by 8.55 p.m. there was a sufficient number on board to take the vessel to sea. On arriving at the lighthouse shortly after one o'clock, Dr. Luke went ashore and found that an assistant, A. Brown, had suffered a fractured nose and a lacerated wrist as the result of being struck by the handle of a winch while a quantity of coal, which had licen landed early yesterday by the Tutanekai, was being hauled up to the lighthouse. Brown was taken on board the Tutanekai and on arrival in Wellington he was taken by amublance to the hospital.
