Favourites Score In Earlier Events. For the opening event, the Trial Handicap, Winning Way and Bingen Stanwere the only defections. Akenehi with £533, Great Way £485 and Dipnoi '£371 carried most of the money. When the field settled down Akenehi was leading from Tamahine and Lochade, w'tli Lord Roberts, Leo Mauritius, Don Zolock and Dipnoi following. The order was much the same when they came past the stand, excepting that Leo Mauritius had run up third behind Taraaliine. Akenehi was still in the lead going along the back the last time and led across the top from Tamahine, Billy Carbine, Leo Mauritius, Don Zolock and Dipnoi. Akenehi was first into the straight from Tamahine, Billy Carbine and Don Zolock, and, going on, Akenehi won easily from Billy Carbine by three lengths, with Tamahine, who broke over the last halffurlong, two and a-half lengths away, third. Dipnoi was fourth and then followed Don Zolock, Koro Peter, Lord Roberts, Great Way and Anseline. Tamaki Handicap, Halgana, carrying £618, was first favourite, and the next best backed were Rose Marie (£594) and Nella Dillon (£428). Red Star was leading Rose Marie when the ■field settled down, and then followed Halgana, Lord Lu, Admiral Lock, Xella Dillon, and Nelson McCormaek. Going along the back Rose Marie and Halgana were together, well clear of Nelson McCormack, Red Star, Admiral Lock and Xella Dillon. Rose Marie and Halgana entered the straight together from Xelsou McCormack and Admiral Lock, and in a good finish Halgana won by half a head from Nelson McCormack, who beat Rose Marie by a length and a half. Maid of the Mountains was fourth, and then finished Admiral Lock, Curfew Boy, Nella Dillon " and Marionette. The Favourite Beaten. All went to the post for the Papakura Handicap and Wrackler (£IGOU), was favourite, with Torpedo Huon (£846), and Gold Dial (£572) next in request. Gold Dial lost some ground at the start. Wrackler was the early leader from Torpedo Huon, Tiger Salve, Gold Dial, Laplander and Goldman. Passing the stand the first time Torpedo Huon had run to the front from Wrackler, Tiger Salve, Gold Dial, Laplander and Goldman. The field completed the next round without any alteration in the positions. Torpedo Huon led up the back the last time from Wrackler, Tiger Salve, Gold Dial, Laplander and Goldman. Torpedo Huon still had charge into the straight, with Wrackler, Tiger Salve and Gold Dial in that order. In the run home Wrackler challenged the leader, but Torpedo Huon stayed on to win by three-quarters of a length from Wrackler, who was four lengths in front of Tiger Salve. Gold Dial was fourth, with Goldman and Laplander in that order. The Big Race. Glideaway, the winner carried £1807, the next best backed being the Jean McElwyn-Dundas Boy bracket, £1083, and Harvest Child £796. Real Light turned round at the start and lost a lot of ground. However, Jean McElwyn tired over the last furlong, Glideaway going on to win by half a length, with Jean McElwyn three-quarters of a length in front of Harvest Child, who beat Dundas Boy by a length and a-half for third place.
