OTAHUHU TROTS.

SUMMER MEETING OPENED.

GLIDEAWAY LIFTS THE CUP.

TAMAKI HANDICAP TO HALGANA.

There is fine ( warm weather for the opening of the Otahuhu Trotting Club s summer meeting, which will be concluded on Wednesday. The attendance is good and the track fast.

Popular fancies were well in the limelight in the early part of the programme, three of the first four races being won by the actual favourite, and the fourth was won by the second fancy, with the favourite in second place. In the Otahuhu Cup, the big race of the meeting, Glideaway was most fancied and he soon flattered his supporters, running into second place along the back and taking the lead at the straight. A challenge by Jean McElwyn looked ominous, but she tired in the last half-furlong, and Glideaway won by half a length, with Harvest Child third.
