NEW ZEALAND RIFLE BRIGADE
AUCKLAND OFFICERS' REUNION. Although an annual reunion of the New •> .iland Rifle Brigade officers has been he-Id in Wellington for some years past, many Aucklanders have been unable to attend. It has, however, been felt that such a function should be held locally once a year, to renew old associations and keep the spirit of the brigade alive. A small but energetic committee, comprising Major N. L. Macky, Messrs. W. A. Gray, W. F. Fowlds, L. M. Blyth, and J. L. Kayes. saw the reward of their labours on Saturday evening, when, at Lewis Eady'3 Hall, forty Rifle Brigade officers resident of the Auckland province assembled for the first reunion. Major A. Thomson was in the chair. The roll call proved thoroughly representative, and included many of the original officers of the brigade. Lieut.-Colonel Hardie Neil, D.5.0., in proposing the toast of the brigade, outlined its activities, and Ldeut-Colonel Closey respon- ' ded. Other toasts were: "The King," "Absent Comrades." A splendid musical programme was rendered by Mr Ballantyne Burnnand's Orchestra, and items were contributed by Messrs. N. Tucker and F. W. Barker, and members recounted many reminiscences. It was unanimously resolved to hold the reunion annually. Apologies for absence were received from Colonel Austin, Colonel Beere, and many other officers. Any officer of the brigade is requested to communicate with the secretarv, Mr. J. L. Kayes, 5, OConneU St., City.
