There was a large gathering at the opening of the Hamilton tennis courts on Saturday afternoon, «-.nd some very good games were played. Those present were: Mesdames McCraeken, Hope, W. Fabling, A. B. A progressive bridge evening was thoroughly enjoyed by a number of Mrs. Carr's friends at Mrs. G. Malthas home in Tauranga last week. The rooms were beautifully decorated with bowls of lovely flowers. The prizes were won by Miss Murray, top score, Mrs. Baigent second, and Mrs. McKenzie won the concealed mimber. Those present included: Mesdames A. Tudhope, J. A. McKenzie, E. S. Bartlett, D. Ivorv, B. P. Andrews. G. Wills, W. J. Bai<rent, J. Wrigley, F. A. Stevens, F. A. Wilson, C. N. Humphreys, McCarra, G. W. G. Sanders, Miss Hawk, Miss Murray.

At the Lyceum Club, Hamilton, on Tuesday, a town and country afternoon was thoroughly enjoyed by a large number of members. Solos were sung by Mrs. A. W. Sims, Mrs. J. Oliphant (Te Awamutu), Mrs. C. O. Bennett, Miss B. Higgott played a pianoforte solo, and Mrs. F. Bullock recited. The competitions were won by Mrs. C. Gummer (Morrinsville) and Mrs. D. Andrews (Hamilton),

A jolly supper party was given by Mrs. H. C. Ross, at her home in Claudelands, after the recital of Miss Vera Moore. Those present included: Mesdames F. D. Pinfold, W. G. Pountney, A. English, Prentice, J. D. Smith, S. Banks (Matamata), Fronde, Misses Vera Moore, J. Money, F. Jolly, Hogg, E. Necker, M, Money.

The annual sports were held at Southwell School on Saturday in perfect weather. The trophies were presented to the winning boys by Mrs. S. Green. Those present- were: Mesdames H. Sergei, Eben. On Wednesday afternoon th© closing day of the Hamilton Ladies' Golf Club was held in perfect weather. The prizes won during the season were presented Iby the president, Mrs. Melville Bell.
