RN. HOSPITAL SCHOOL.
Tribute Paid To Generosity Of Mr. G. S. Reade. BENEFICENT AUCKLANDER. (Australian Press Assn.—United Service.) (Received 12 noon.) LONDON, October 26. The Duke of York laid the foundation stone of the Royal Navy Hospital School at Holbrook on an 800 acres site, which has also an endowment given by an Aucklander, Mr. G. S. Reade. Speaking at the luncheon Mr. W. C. Bridgeman, First Lord of the Admiralty, paid a tribute to Mr. Reade"s love of the Empire and laudable generosity which would ensure the efficiency of the Navy. The buildings form a model village. It will take four years to complete and it will accommodate 1100 boys.
The Naval school, -which will cost about £1.000,000, is being built at Holbrook, Suffolk, through the generosity of Mr. Gifford Sherman Reade, of Auckland. His gift includes his ancestral home of 850 acres. The school will accommodate over 1000 boys. The gift was made as a token of admiration for the work of the Navyin the war.
