WEEK-END ACCIDENTS.

MOTORISTS' LUCKY ESCAPE.

The occupants of two motor cars, which collided at the corner of the Mount. Wellington and Panmure Roads on Saturday, had a lucky escape from serious injury. One car, driven by Mr. McGaffin, and containing three passengers, was gravelling towards Howick, and the other, driven by Mr. Samson, was turning from the Otahuhu side road. The vehicles collided with considerable force, Mr. McGaffin's car turning over and pinning the occupants underneath. They were rescued by cutting away a portion of the hood, and escaped with minor injuries. Both cars are considerably damaged.

Struck by a motor car at the intersection of Bellevue Road and Dominion Road on Saturday evening, Thomas Andrews, aged 23, of 80, Burnley Terrace, Edendale, received injuries to his head. James Neaves, aj*ed 42, of Manurewa, who was knocked down by a motor cycle at Takanini on Saturday afternoon, sustained a fracture of the thigh. Both men are patients in the Auckland Hospital, and to-day they were reported to be progressing satisfactorily.
