AIRMEN GRATEFUL.

NEW ZEALAND HOSPITALITY.

REPLY TO CONGRATULATIONS.

(By Telegraph—Press Association.)

INVERCARGILL, Sunday.

The following cablegram has been received by the Prime Minister from Squadron-Leader Kingsford Smith and Flight-Lieutenant Ulm, in acknowledgment of the Government's congratulations on the success of their return flight across the Tasman:—

"Thank you, sir, your Government and the people of New Zealand, for your congratulatory cablegram. We can never adequately express on our own, and on Messrs. H. A. Litchfield's and T. H. McWilliam's behalf, our truly grateful appreciation of the wonderful receptions accorded us throughout New Zealand, and our thanks for the hospitality of yourself and your Government and the people wherever we went. We appreciate your remarks to the effect that wo are promoting the progress of aviation. If we are doing this well and faithfully we are more than amply repaid for our efforts."
