NEW PLYMOUTH FIXTURE.
" ROUND-THE-MOUNTAIN " R ACE. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") NEW PLYMOUTH, Saturday. The annual 95-mile road race round Mt. Egmont was run to-day in fine weather. Kesults :— Lehrke, New Plymouth (33m) 1 Plumtree, New Plymouth (36m) 2 Bullot, New Plymouth (33m) 3 Aroa, New Plymouth (15m) 4 The order of the others was :— Gilbert (36m) ; Bellringer, Yardley, Weir, Christchurch (10m); Francis, Papakura (23m); Oargan, Kiverlea (15m) ; Hill, Christchurch (18m) ; Ellis (36m) ; Prebble, Christchurch (28m) ; Lindop, Auckland (15m). The two scratch men finished together. McCann had a fall and finished in a car. Bellringer made fastest time, establishing a record for the race, taking 13m 56s off last year's fastest time, and 7m 47s off the previous record. His time was 4h 29m 15s.
