CYCLING.

THE AUCKLAND CLUB.

The Auckland Athletic and Cycling Club held a 20-mile open handicap at Mangere on Saturday afternoon. Weather conditions were favourable for road racing and good times were recorded. The following Is the result:—

P. Rickman, 4m 30s 1 K. Rae, 3m 30s 2 K. J. Mathieson, lm 30s 3 Time, S4m lis. Fastest time, K. J. Mathieson, lm 30s, 52m 18s. The first time round Clark and Rickman, 4m 308, the limit riders, led from K. Rae, 3m 30s, on his own. The backmarkers, Mathieson and Henderson, at this stage were only 200 yds behind. Entering the last lap Rickman and Rae had an advantage of 100 yds only, which looked like an easy win for the back-markers. Arguments in pacing, however, among the latter allowed the two front-markers, who had paced each other splendidly, to score a very easy win. P. Rickman winning rather easily from K. Rae. K. J. Mathieson, who finished third, was nearly 60s behind the winner, but secured fastest time.
