ANNUAL MEET AT CAMBRIDGE.

Bendower Best Maiden. Leitrim's Bardowie.

There is wet weather for the annual totalisator meeting at Cambridge, with the track holding. There is, however, a good attendance. The Favourite Prevails. Day Abbey and Motive were withdra'wnfrom the first race, the Maiden Hunters' Steeples, for which Bendower (£524), -Nabob (£349) and Raiti-hiki (£270) were best supported, and the summing up proved to be correct. Nabob and Town Rambler were the first out from Bendower, • Bruntwood and Raiti-hiki. Otumoetai and Every "Day fell along the back and Bruntwood ran off. Passing the stand, Town- Rambler had charge from General Maniapoto, Nabob, Bendower, Roger, and King Fame, but along the back Nabob and Bendower were in front from Town Rambler, General Maniapoto and Roger. Raiti-hiki fell at this-stage. Entering the straight Nabob and Bendower were-fifteen lengths ahead of King • Fame; -who • was followed by Town' Rambler' and General Maniapoto, and in a good finish Bendower defeated Nabob "by a 'long neck, with King Fame ten lengths away, in third place. Town Rambler was fourth, and then came General Maniapoto, Caruso and Roger. " Favourite Wins Again. jjoß gtar, Ah Wera, Black Maire, Furrie, lodoJent. and . Rose Arch failed to parade for. the. Bardowie Handicap. When the machine had closed Leitrim (£604)., Upqko (£§81) and The Jack Jumper (£378) were supported in that order.. Kineton was badly left, and Abbey. .Queen, .led along the back from Foreign..Fancy,. .Leitrim, The Jack Jumper and Flitter. Crossing the top Abbey. .Queen, was. attended by Leitrim, Foreign Fancy, The Jack Jumper, Upoko, Air King and Flitter, and they came into the straight in that order. Leitrim challenged in the run to the post and scored an easy win by two lengths from Abbey Queen, who defeated The Jack Jumper by half a length. Foreign Fancy was fourth, and then came Flitter, Bert Hinkler, Upoko and Air King. Surprise in Hunters' Hurdles. All started in the Hunters' Hurdles with best support coming for Pikimai ( £842), Ramblin' Kid ( £747) and Gold Rep ( £481). »Day Abbey led at the start from Rose Arch, Ramblin' Kid and Gold Rep, and passing the stand the order was Day Abbey and Rose Arch together, with Archangel, Soami, Ramblin' Kid, Gold Rep, Mangaiti, Pikimai, and King Amans following. Along the back the leading positions were still the same with Gold Rep and Pikimai close up. < Archangel took charge crossing the top from Gold Rep, Day Abbey,' Pikimai, Soami and Mangaiti. As they came into the straight Pikimai was lying second behind Archangel, with Gold Rep, Soami and Mangaiti next. Archangel led over the last fence, and staying on best, defeated Pikimai by half a length with Mangaiti two lengths further back. Soami was fourth, the next to finish being Gold Rep, Day Abbey and Rose Arch. King Amans fell •t the last fence and Ramblin* Kid was pulled up. The Favourite Defeated. Golden Krist was the only defection from the Members' Memorial, the principal flat race on the programme. It was a good betting race, with Master Doon (£1104), Miss New Zealand (£914) and Mint •Leaf (£793) accorded most support. Passing - • the stand, Master Doon was showing the way to Te Koroke, Siaosi, Mint 'Leaf; :Deeert Glow and Miss New Zearland. Master Doon and Siaosi were racing on terms along the back, with Te Koroke, Mint Leaf and Desert Glow next. Master Doon led across the top, with Siaosi,' 'Mint' 'Leaf, Desert Glow, Mi3s New Zealand - and Te Koroke all bunched, and Wedding - March - last. Mint Leaf took charge entering the straight from Desert - Glow; • Siaosi, - •Te Koroke and Master Doon, and in a good finish he got the verdict by half a length from Desert Wow, with Siaosi third, a similar distance away. Te Koroke was fourth and then can?e Miss New Zealand and Master Doon, with .Wadding March last
