Wellington R.C.

LAST DAY AT TRENTHAM.

Zippor Lifts Spring Stakes. Hurdles To Beaumont.

(By Telegraph—Special to "Star.")

TRENTHAM. this day.

The Wellington Racing Club's spring meeting is concluding at Trentham in fine weather, before a large holiday attendance. The track is in splendid order. Beaumont, who fell on Saturday, won the Hurdles very easily from Askari. This pair were in front all the way. Vexatious had every chance, Carinthia was up with the leading pair early, but jumped badly and dropped but. He came strongly again at the finish,, into fourth place. The fovourite, JPolyphemus, was never dangerous. Ballyfarnon and Ripdale fell at the first fence. Zippor Wins Easily.; The favourites never got a look in in the Spring Trial Stakes. Zippor was out early in a good position, and he won decisively. He is a brother to Magna Charta, and this is easily his best performance. Stanchion and Zippor ran good races. Last Mark, a brother to Anomaly and King's Jest was well back early, and finished fourth. Bettei placed, he would have been hard to beat. Jet Black was fifth. He did not begin very Well, but finished up alongside Last Mark.

Favourites came home at last in the Hack Mile, though »in inverse order. Mendip made all the running in front, with Rory Mor, but Historic got to him in the last few strides. A lot of use was made of Mendip, but probably Historic would have won in any case. Rory Mor made a big bid to bring off a coup, but just failed to see it out. None of the others had any chance of getting up, and Rayal Lineage, prominent early, finished last. King's Jest was always well back. Results:— SECOND HURDLES of 300sovs. One mile and a-half.
