THE FIELDS REVIEWED.

(By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") WELLINGTON", Thursday. The Wellington Racing Club's spring meeting will open on Saturday, and excellent acceptances have been received. The weather is showery at time of writing, but on the whole the prospects for a successful meeting are good. The Hurdle Race. Sixteen are carded for the First Hurdle Race. Ballyfarnon galloped well this morning and recent form among hurdlers points to BALLYFARNON VEXATIOUS CARINTHIA

There is a big field engaged in the Taita Handicap, a race for two-year-olds, but the majority have little form to commend them. Head Serang and Admiral Drake shaped well at Hastings, while Equitant was second to Royal Flyer at Masterton. Emotion went well on the tracks this morning. Perhaps the best fancied ones may be HEAD SERANG ADMIRAL DRAKE EMOTION

Chelone, who is regarded as well in in the Wainui Handicap, may need a race, and Cashier has plenty of weight for a three-year-old. Battle Colours is a likely sort, while both Partaga and Royal Game have performed prominently this season. The best backed mav be

Mask and Blimp may be the best of the others. Perhaps most money will go on GOSHAWK PINK NOTE BLACK MINT After winning the Breeders' Plate at the recent A.J.C. meeting at Randwick Gold Tinge is certain to start a warm favourite for the Wellesley Stakes, and it will apparently take something out of the ordinary to beat him. "First Money and Hunting Day have pace, while Speed Light won the Debutante Stakes at Wanganui and is sure to have friends. Most money may go on GOLD TINGE SPEED LIGHT FIRST MONEY

In the Shorts Handicap Reremoana beads the list, and if he has improved since the Wanganui meeting he should go welL Commendation, after his win at Masterton, is the ruling favourite, and it looks as though he has only got to jump away to be very hard to beat.
