GOLDEN WEDDING.
A very pleasant gathering of relatives and friends took' place on Wednesday evening at the residence, Tararu Road, Thames,, of Mr. and Mrs. William Lang Thorlnmi. who celebrated their golden wedding. Mr." and Mrs. Thorburn. were married 011 July 11. 1878. at the residence of the bride's parents, the late Mr. and Mrs." Andrew Otto, Davy Street, Thames, bv the Rev. S. J. Neil, of St. James' Presbyterian Church, and have lived for a great many years at Tararu. The gathering on Wednesday was .quite a unique one. from the fact that it was attended by two sisters and four brothers of Mr. Thorburn and thier respective husbands and wives, who were also present at the golden wedding, .'>9'years ago, of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Lang Thorburn, sen. During the evening a large number of toasts were proposed and responded to, the principal toast, that of the health of Mr. and Mrs. Thorburn, being proposed by Mr. R. S. Thorburn, of Auckland, who was groomsman at their wedding, and who expressed the great delight of al! pi esent at finding Mr. and Mrs. Thorburn in such good health, and he sincerely hoped they would enjoy the same good health for many, many years to come. .The sinking of all the old-time populai songs brought" back many pleasant reminiscences of the happy days spent at Taranni, and the celebration,"which was kept up till a late hour, was a most enjoyable one. Mr. and Mrs. Thorburn were the recipients of a great number of telegrams and letter® of congratulation from all parts of the Dominion.
