BURIED MILLIONS
FRUITFUL CAPITAL
Britain Is Argentine's Greatest
Customer.
THE TRADE BALANCE. (British Official Wireless.) (Received 12.30 p.m.) RUGBY, May 27. The Argentine Ambassador, Dr. Uriburu, was the guest of the Argentine Club at a dinner last night to celebrate the 180 th anniversary of the declaration of the independence of the republic.
Dr. Uriburu said that the Argentine had played, and was playing, a very important part in the economic affairs of Great Britain.
Colonel Parish stated that in ordinary times Britain was the Argentine's greatest customer. Last year Britain purchased from the Argentine products worth £70.000,000, and the goods sold to her by Britain were worth £26,000,000.
As offset, against that adverse balance about £20,000,000 was remitted to' Britain annually iu respect of capital raised here for Argentine enterprises.
Britain, he said, had £500,000,000 invested in the Argentine, while a considerable revenue was also gained from shipping services and other sources.
