CHILD WELFARE.
New Zealand Sets World Example. TRIBUTE TO SIR TRUBY KING. (Received 12 noon.) LONDON, March 30. "New Zealand has the lowest infantile mortality in the world. This is not only due to climate but to the magnificent backing the people have given the Plunket Society," said Sir James Parr, presiding at the Overseas League lunch to Sir Truby King. Sir Trilby King, in replying, reviewed the history of the growth of ' child welfare in Npw Zealand. He recalled a war-time visit to Britain and the founding of the mothercraft training centre in London, where the survival rate was now equal to any part of New Zealand's. Members of the Plunket Society watched the progress of the London movement with interest.
He said he was also gratified to have assisted in starting in London a movement in which New Zealand had become a specialist.
