NEW CANAL.
♦Nicaragua Water Way
Wanted.
PARALLEL TO PANAMA.
WASHINGTON*, March 28.
A hill was introduced in the Senate yesterday by Mr. Kenneth I. McKellar (Democrat, Tennessee), providing for the immediate construction of a Nicaragua Canal to run parallel to the Panama Canal. Tlio measure proposed that the new canal should be financed by a loan of £40,000,000 for o0 years at 3 per cent in Government bonds.
The promoter said a Nicaragua Canal would be a paying investment and would restore American prestige in Nicaragua, turning bandits into labourers. He asked for a vote of £2,000,000 for a survey.
