AND RESISTED POLICE.
FINED ON" TWO CHARGES,
Stanley Sowoski (19), a seaman from the land of prohibition, bootlegers, etc., was evidently feeling dry when he caine ashore from the American steamer Dewey yesterday. He more than quenched his thirst, for late in the afternoon he was arrested by Constable Thomassen on a charge of being disorderly while drunk in Quay Street.
Sowoski, a powerfully-built young man, admitted this charge, and also another of liaving resisted the constable, when he appeared before Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., at the Police Court this morning.
"He was absolutely mad, fighting drunk and was looking for fight in the street," said Sub-Inspector McCarthy. "He resisted the constable in a violent manner, and it took three policemen to arrest him."
For being disorderly while drunk Sowoski was fined £1 and on the other, £2 or 14 days' imprisonment.
