BIGAMY ADMITTED.
MIDDLE-AGED MAN'S OFFENCE
COMMITTED FOR SENTENCE. Henry Osman, aged 45, pleaded guilty in the Police Court this morning before Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., to a charge of bigamy and was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence. Accused on January 16, 1914, married Margaret Jane Graham, at the registry oflice, Auckland, and on October 13 last being still married he went through the form of marriage with Ivy Lillian Pates, at Papakura.
Accused, in a statement mad? to Chief Detective Hammond, said that seven years ago his wife had obtained a separation order against him. He had several times been arrested for being in default with the maintenance order. Three or four years ago his wife had been admitted to the Auckland Mental Hos-j pital. He had seen her but she would have nothing to do with him. It was two years since he last saw her. His second wife was 17 years of age. A charge against accused for being in arrears with his maintenance order to the extent of £130 was adjourned sine die.
