THE LAST TRIBUTE.
LATE MR. J. DHUMMOND,
LARGE ATTENDANCE AT FUNERAL.
The esteem in which Mr. James Drum--111 ond was hold was shown by the largo and representative attendanco at liis funeral yesterday afternoon.
A short service was conducted by the Rev. F. Barton at the late Mr. Drummond's house, when the minister referred to the fine character and high sense of duty of the late headmaster of the Auckland Grammar School. He said that the great and good influence on the boye would live beyond the grave.
The pall bearers were Messrs. B. P. Drummond, a brother, and assistant master at the Auckland Grammar School, Messrs. J. B. Johnston, W. Johns?n ' Mahon, H. Schmidt, and B. Schmidt. Boys from the school formed a guard of honour.
Among those who attended the funeral wej:o the Mayor of Auckland (Mr. George Baildon), members of the Grammar Schools Board of Governors, and representatives of local bodies and educational institutions. The wreaths were many and beautiful. At the Waikumete cemetery the burial service was read bv Mr. Barton.
