FATAL SKID.
MOTOR CYCLISTS UPSET.
COLLISION WITH LORRY. ONE MAN DIES OF INJURIES. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CARTERTON, this day. An accident, with fatal consequences, occurred at Cross Creek, on the FrfaAherston Road, about 7.30 p.m. on Saturday.
Reg. Haylock, train tester, William Monteith, engine driver and N. Doohan, labourer, all young men employed by the Railway Department at Cross Creek, were returning from Featherston on Hayloek's motor cycle and side-car, with Haylock driving, Monteith in the side-car and Doorhan on the pillion seat. They met • motor lorry when on loose metal and in passing it the cycle skidded and swerved into the lorry. Haylock and Doohan were knocked off a'nd Haylock fell' between the cycle and side-car. It ic thought both knocked their heads on the lorry. They were picked up and taken to Greytown Hospital, where Haylock died at 3.30 yesterday. Doohan's condition is still considered serious. Monteith escaped injury.
