FIRE AT WAIPU.
DOCTORS RESIDENCE BURNED

WHANGAREI, this day.
A disastrous fire occurred at Waipu, about 5.30 p.m. yesterday, when on* of the finest residences in the settlement was totally destroyed with all its contents. The house, which was elaborately appointed, vu oocupi-d. by Dr. Martin, the building being owned by the Whangarei Hospital Board. When discovered, the outbreak had too big a hold for much to be done, the efforts of a bucket brigade v>edng without avail, and only a few personal effects were saved. The insurances are not available.
