CLICK CLACK BIRTHDAY.
It was - a festive occasion for the Click Clack Cabaret when its first birthday was celebrated. The decorations, which were unique, were carried out in a scheme portra/ing old Egypt. Large panels around the room showed scenes oi burning deserts, swaying date palms, and camels with loads. Here, the statue of' Memmon sat in silent contemplation; while in the next panel were the Sphinx and the pyramids. The alcoves in the «."?rner of the room were in the form of tombs, but considerably brightened by the large and beautifullycoloured fans. Over all, green and crimson shades cast a temple-like glow while the side lights were covered in parchment shades on which we-- painted Egyptian figures and signs. Valeska and her pupils. Mile. Valeska also contributed a Hungarian dance, and Miss Sylvia. Maxwell, an Eastern dance. ;The orchestra; provided delightful • music, many numbers being suggestive of the East. ."Ain't She Sweet," "Honolulu Moon".ad. a number of new Scotch airs caused a furore. - Incense was. kept burning throughout the evening. Among the dancers were: Mrs. Richmond, lace frock in mist grey with cerise girdle; Mrs. Carrick Robertson, scarlet georgette, veiled with lace; Mrs. Henry, pale pink and silver; Mrs. Walter Elliot, black georgette with
single posy; Mrs. J. Elliot, blue georgette; Mrs. Vigers, blue embossed velvet with panels edged with grey fur; Miss Johnson, smart frock of jade green embossed georgette with panels embroidered in gold; Mrs. Kirker, silver lame; Mrs. Upton, jade green and silver; Mrs. Robertson, black and floral ninon; Mrs. S. Thorne George, sequined georgette frock; Mrs. Tom Lowe, black trimmed with ivory; Miss Ava Johnston, black with petunia shawl; Miss Gwen Fullerton, primrose taffeta; Miss F. Cox, embossed ivory crepe de chine; Miss Bouilton, rose taffeta; Miss C. Russell, blue georgette; Miss Meg. Russell, white georgette; Miss Dolly Vaile, pale rose taffeta and large bow of saxe blue.
