CITY ENDOWMENTS.
ENSURING A REVENUE. SATISFACTORY REPORT.
The policy of the City Council in having a property inspector whose duty it' is to see that the endowments of the citv are made the most of in a financial sense, has proved to he a wise one. Since the inspector (Mr. C. W. Adams) took charge in March, 11)25, all of the premises owned by the council have received a certain amount of attention. In a report received by the council last night the inspector stated that the amount of money spent in repairs and improvements during the period was £9100, whereas the increased revenue directly derived from this expenditure amounts to £2154 10/8 per annum. This does not include the rent from extra nremises. Several idle allotments have been leased and built op, thus bringing in to the council a decided revenue in ground rent and rates. At Western Springs paddocks which provided grazing for all and sundry now bring in a revenue of £70 per annum.
