MOTOR CAR FATALITY.
CORONER'S INQUEST. DUE TO INJURIES." At the inquest held yesterday concerning the death of Christina Jane Fordyce, aged 59, who died in the Auckland Hospital on April 21 as a result of being knocked down by a motor car near the corner of Parkfield Terrace and Khyber Pass Road, evidence was given by the driver of the car, Mr. H. Hatch, and his passenger, Miss Avis Hewett, to the effect that while driving down Khyber Pass, they noticed Miss Fordyce standing on the pavement at the intersection of Khyber Pass and a side street. She stepped on to the road, and when Mr. Hatch sounded the horn, she stepped forward and lieisitated. He blew the horn again, and she went on, but after a few steps,' again halted. The car was then only a few feet away from her. Mr. Hatch was of the opinion that no expert driver could have avoided hitting her. A verdict of death due to injuries following an accident was found.
