TROTTING.

NOTES FROM EPSOM.

E. Sandall is handling a good-looking chestnut three-year-old by Al Mack — Genita. The latter is a well-bred American mare imported to New Zealand a few years ago by Mr. Eliot Davis at the same time as he brought Al Mack out.

Tui Zolock (Shaw), Moko Pete (Evans), and Uncle Bert (Broughton), the last-named in saddle, were strapped up this morning and sent a mile in company. The first- quarter was travelled very slowly, but then the- pace increased. After going six furlongs Moko Pete quitted and would not go on with his companions, who finished on terms. Tui Zolock, who was on the outside, pleased most, though neither of the pair was hunted right out.

The filly Bonnie Wah has gone lame and was not on the track this morning.

In a work-out a week ago Amaris was inclined to be a bit wayward, but a couple of smart cuts with the whip straightened him up, and yesterday the pacer stepped a mile in attractive style. He and Tui Zolock will represent Shaw's stable at the Cambridge meeting.

H. Kinnamont left for the Cambridge meeting this morning with Colonel Thorpe, Grattan Thorpe, Roma Bingen, and Van Rich. The latter is expected to go well in the mile harness event.

The Cup candidate, Respect, left for Cambridge this morning in charge of J. Johnson. The Gold Bell gelding is a very fit horse, and being a good stayer, will be going on at the end of the two miles.

A week ago J. Shaw brought Ben Lomond in and a couple of days ago allowed him to run along a mile. The nuggety little pacer stepped along freely, and satisfied Shaw that he would not take much work to get him ready, so he is being let-up again.

Percy Dillon (W. Evans), in saddle, and Master Councillor (A. Broughton) in harness, were hoppled up and sent a mile this morning. They moved freely all the way, Percy Dillon, who had the inside running, finishing slightly in front, although Master Councillor appeared to be going best.
